Vintage Leifheit Columbus Thermos Jug by Hans Erich Slany, 1990

This wonderfully playful Columbus insulated jug by Leifheit was designed by renowned German industrial designer Hans Erich Slany and introduced in 1990.

Nicknamed “Columbus’s egg” for its distinctive rounded silhouette, the design combines a playful postmodern look with a clever one-handed push-button pouring mechanism.

I couldn’t resist this colour combination — a warm peach-orange body contrasted with bright blue details, from the push-button to its three little ball-shaped feet. Very cute, very 1990s, and with just the right touch of Memphis-era design.

Material: Plastic outer body with insulated glass inner liner

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The internal thermal glass liner is perfectly intact with no cracks or damage. All 3 small plastic feet under the base are present.
