Rare Antique French Fencing Mask – 19th Century Wire Mesh
Pickup currently not available
This striking graphic antique fencing mask dates from the late 19th to early 20th century.
The original fabric lining has been removed, revealing its raw, sculptural wire construction. The hand-woven iron mesh has a beautiful aged patina, while the long rear support and original oval strap loop remain intact.
Early fencing masks like this are increasingly difficult to find, particularly with their original metal structure so well preserved.
Very industrial and structural, it makes a striking decorative object displayed on its own or as part of a cabinet of curiosities.
