Victorian Maw & Co Majolica Floral Tile
£125.00
Pickup currently not available
This antique ceramic tile was produced by Maw & Co in the late 19th century at the Broseley works in Shropshire. The square format is decorated with a vibrant, high-relief floral and foliage motif, rendered in a brilliant turquoise-and-deep-blue majolica glaze with rich tonal variation.
The surface has a distinctive depth and gloss, typical of Victorian majolica, where colour and relief interact to create a strong visual effect. The design features a symmetrical composition with stylized, classical acanthus leaves flanking central floral rosettes, drawing inspiration from both Neo-Renaissance and contemporary Arts and Crafts movements.
