Antique Framed Map of Essex — John Owen & Emanuel Bowen, Engraved, circa 1720
Pickup currently not available
This 18th-century engraved map of Essex was originally published in Britannia Depicta, a pocket road atlas produced in England during the Georgian period.
Engraved by Emanuel Bowen, the composition combines cartography, typography, and engraved ornament characteristic of early British mapmaking.
The map includes period route information linking Chelmsford to Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury, along with descriptive text attributed to John Owen.
Presented in a frame, the piece now reads as both a historical document and a graphic object — bringing texture, detail, and quiet character to a wall composition.
