Antique Chetham & Woolley Pearlware Jug — Lion & Serpent Armorial, Blue Glaze, Early 19th Century

£135.00

This early 19th-century pearlware jug by Chetham & Woolley, is decorated in soft blue with crisp white relief ornament in a neoclassical style.

The surface features a dramatic lion and serpent scene alongside a unicorn and heraldic motifs, combining mythology and symbolism in a richly detailed composition characteristic of Regency-period ceramics.

The beaded rim, curved handle, and finely moulded relief give the piece both structure and elegance, while the soft tonal contrast enhances its sculptural quality.

Dating from the early 1800s, the jug works as both a decorative object and a strong example of English pearlware production of the period.
