Victorian Mulberry Transferware Fruit Platter
A beautiful antique red/mulberry transferware oval serving platter featuring a central fruit still life (pears, grapes, cherries, and peaches) surrounded by a floral border. Likely English (Staffordshire style), dating to the late 19th or early 20th century.
The technique is transfer printing, a popular decorative method of the era. The platter is in good antique condition with expected signs of age, including light surface crazing and wear on the base rim (see photos). No maker’s mark is present on the reverse, which is common for larger platters of this type. No major cracks or chips are noted.
This platter makes a stunning display piece for a hutch, sideboard, or wall, while also serving as a functional dish for special occasions. A fine example of classic Victorian transferware.
